PHIL'S BOX

PHIL'S BOX is an all-Ableton plug-in FX rack that I built to mimic a modular system I used to own. I don't know why I ever sold it, but I did, so I made this to fill the gaping hole it left in me.

The modular system was based around the Strymon Magneto tape delay/reverb. I would use other modules to randomly freeze the delay and effect the reverb parameters. So this does almost exaclty that... except in Ableton.. and instead of voltages controlling things, it's your fingers.

It's super fun and easy to use and is always in sync with your project. My favorite way to use it is with the mix at 100% wet. You copy the track of whatever sound you want to effect, throw this on at 100%, make a new audio track that receives signal from the effected track, record enable it and press record, then just play with the knobs and get crazy glitchy/freezy/verby stuff to sift through and use as ear candy or (often times) for completely new ideas.
